My kids have hearts as big as the moon. When they were just little, they would always bring home all the stray animals that they would find while playing around the neighborhood. For the most part, it was harmless. The snakes and mice I probably could have lived without. They would hold on to them all day and then my husband and I would have to send them off while the kids were sleeping and come up with a big story about what happened. Now that they are teenagers, those little pets have turned into full grown teenage friends. They are constantly bringing people home with them after school and sporting events.
Again, for the most part, it’s harmless. Except for the fact that these teenagers eat a lot more than those wild animals did. When they first started bringing friends home, I would walk out into my kitchen only to discover my entire refrigerator and all the cupboards had been cleaned right out.
That didn’t take too long to get frustrating. I buy groceries with the idea they are going to last the week. A week gets shortened to a few days really quickly with these kids around. Thankfully, I have recipes like this one from Recipe Lion that can help in limiting the ransacking of my kitchen!
