Becca is one of my friends who loves to join baking contests. No, she doesn’t join the big ones that require an appearance in the media, but she loves to join those that’s just being held in communities or even schools. She loves to bake. Since she is a full-time housewife and mom, she is able to practice a lot in her kitchen. One time, there was a “Mom and Me” program at the school of her daughter. I was there to support her because well, as a friend, I have to. Other than that, I was the one who convinced her to join because it’s my friend who organized it. She was one of the PTA members and asked me if I have friends who could join.
Becca was one of the underdogs during the contest. While the others were making cakes, she was simply making a loaf. But at the end of the day, she won first prize and her daughter looked really proud beside her. When asked by the others who were congratulating her, she simply told them to have a slice of the loaf. One taste and we all knew what made her won. Even with all the fancy cakes, hers stood out because of the theme. It’s “Mom and Me”. Moms usually make simple homemade treats every day that her family will enjoy. And that usually doesn’t involve fancy cakes for occasions.
